This Privacy Policy explains what personal data TripUp collects, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. You can browse TripUp without creating an account or giving us any personal details.
Who we are
TripUp is operated by TripUp, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India ("we", "us" or "our"). This policy applies to our website at https://preview.tripup.in, our business listing website at business.tripup.in, and the forms and services offered through them.
We decide why and how your personal data is processed, which makes us the Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We handle your data in line with that Act and its rules as they come into effect, and with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it.
The short version
- Visitors do not create accounts or log in.
- We do not use analytics, advertising trackers or tracking cookies.
- We collect personal data only when you choose to fill in one of our forms or, once payments are available, when you pay for a service.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.
What we collect and why
When you browse
You can use TripUp without telling us who you are. Like most websites, our hosting provider's servers may automatically record basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the website secure and running.
If you choose Use my current location in search, your browser asks for your permission first. Your location is used only on your own device, to sort places by distance from you. It is not sent to us, stored by us or shared with anyone.
When you contact us
Our contact form asks for your name, your email address and/or phone number, a topic and your message. We use these to reply to you and deal with your query. We also record your IP address with the message to prevent spam and abuse.
When you ask a travel agency to call you
In our cab search you can choose Not decided yet and ask a travel agency to call you. We then collect your name, your mobile number, the trip details you have chosen (trip type, pickup, destination, dates and vehicle) and any note you add, and we record your IP address with the request to prevent spam.
We share your request with the travel agencies and cab operators that have joined TripUp as partners, so that they can call or WhatsApp you about that trip and quote a fare. Partners may use your details only to respond to your request.
When you share your location as a driver
If you drive a cab or an auto-rickshaw, you can show where you are on TripUp's live map from our driver page. We collect your name, mobile number, vehicle type and details, and the business you drive for (or the business details you register). Only while you have switched on Go online and the page is open, we also receive your phone's location (latitude, longitude and accuracy), about once every 15 to 60 seconds. We keep only your latest position, not a history of your trips.
While you are online, travellers see your approximate location (to about 100 metres), your vehicle type and details, the business name and your phone number on our map, so they can call you. If you joined through a travel agency's driver link, that agency can see your exact location while you are online. You can go offline, or remove your phone from the map, at any time.
When you list your business
The listing form at business.tripup.in collects your business name, category, the owner's or manager's name, phone and WhatsApp numbers, email address, website, social media links, address, area, pincode, GPS location, opening hours, a description, category-specific details (such as room tariffs or vehicle types) and photos.
We use this to review and publish your listing, confirm that you are authorised to list the business, contact you about the listing and keep the directory accurate. Business details such as the name, address, phone and WhatsApp numbers, website, location, opening hours, description and photos may be shown publicly so that visitors can find and contact you. We do not publish the owner's or manager's name or your email address unless you ask us to.
When you claim a listing or ask for a correction or removal
These requests collect your name, phone number, your role in the business and your message, and we record your IP address with the request. We use these details to check your request, contact you and act on it. Our team reviews every request manually.
Listings created from public information
Some listings were created from publicly available business information, such as Google Maps, and are marked "unclaimed". They may include the business name, category, address, phone number, website, location, rating and photos. If any of these details relate to you personally, such as a mobile number, you can ask us to correct or remove them at any time using the buttons on the listing or the contact details below.
When you pay for a service
Once payments are available, if you book a travel plan we will collect your name, phone number, email address and trip details, such as the travel date, pickup point and number of travellers. If you buy a featured listing plan, we will collect your business and billing details, including your GSTIN if you want a GST invoice.
You enter your card, UPI or bank details directly on the payment gateway's secure page, and we do not see or store them. The gateway tells us whether the payment succeeded and shares limited details, such as the transaction ID, amount, date and status.
We use this information to process your payment, confirm your booking, send confirmations and receipts, handle cancellations and refunds, and meet our tax and accounting obligations.
How we use your data
We process your personal data with your consent, which you give when you submit a form or make a payment, and for other purposes permitted by Indian law, such as complying with a legal obligation or a court order. We use your data only for the purposes described in this policy, and we collect only what we need for them.
We contact you by phone, WhatsApp, SMS or email only about your query, listing, request or booking. We will not send you promotional messages unless you agree to receive them, and you can opt out at any time. We do not use your data for profiling or automated decision-making.
Who we share it with
- The public: listing details that you submit for publication.
- Travel partners: when you book a travel plan, your name, phone number and trip details go to the partner who will run the trip, so they can deliver it.
- Travellers and your travel agency (drivers): while you are online as a driver, your approximate location, vehicle, business name and phone number are shown on our public map, and the travel agency you drive for can see your exact location.
- Partner travel agencies: when you ask for a call back in our cab search, your name, mobile number and trip details go to the travel agencies and cab operators that have joined TripUp, so they can contact you about that trip.
- Service providers: companies that help us run TripUp, such as our web hosting provider, the payment gateway, and the email and messaging services we use to contact you. They may use your data only to provide their services to us.
- Authorities: when the law requires it, such as in response to a court order or a lawful request from a government agency, or where needed to prevent fraud or protect someone's safety.
If TripUp is ever merged with or transferred to another organisation, your data may be transferred as part of that, and it must continue to be protected in line with this policy. We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
Third-party services on our website
Some parts of TripUp load content from, or link to, other providers:
- Maps: map images come from OpenStreetMap and are displayed using the Leaflet library, which is loaded from a public content delivery network (CDN).
- Fonts: some fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
- Google Maps: directions links open Google Maps, and our contact page may show an embedded Google map.
- WhatsApp and phone calls: WhatsApp buttons open WhatsApp, which is run by Meta, and call buttons open your phone's dialler.
When your browser loads these services, the provider receives your IP address and basic browser information. An embedded Google map may also set its own cookies. These providers handle data under their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
When you call or message a business, that business receives your phone number and anything you share with it. We do not see or record these calls or chats.
Cookies and local storage
TripUp does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. To help pages load faster, we save some page content in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device, does not identify you and is not used to track you. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
If we add analytics or other cookies in future, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires.
How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, or for as long as the law requires:
- Contact messages: until your query is resolved, and for a reasonable period after in case you follow up.
- Listing details: while your listing is on TripUp. When a listing is removed, we delete or anonymise the related personal data within a reasonable time.
- Claim, correction and removal requests: until the request is dealt with, plus a record that we acted on it.
- Driver locations: only your latest position. It stops being shown a few minutes after you go offline, and your vehicle's record is deleted when you or the business remove it.
- Cab call-back requests: 180 days from when you send them. Partner agencies can see a request for 30 days, or until the trip is booked.
- Payment and booking records: for the period required by tax and accounting laws.
- IP addresses and technical logs: for as long as needed for security and abuse prevention, or as required by law.
Once the purpose is served, or if you withdraw your consent, we erase your data unless the law requires us to keep it.
How we protect your data
We use reasonable security safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, restricted access to our admin tools and careful choice of service providers. No website can be completely secure, but if a personal data breach affects you, we will inform you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Our service providers may store or process data on servers in India or in other countries. Where data is processed outside India, we follow any restrictions set by the Government of India.

- Access: get a summary of the personal data we hold about you, how we use it, and who we have shared it with.
- Correction and completion: have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected, completed or updated.
- Erasure: have your data deleted when it is no longer needed or when you withdraw consent, unless the law requires us to keep it.

How to use your rights or withdraw consent
Contact our Grievance Officer (details below) or use our Contact page. Tell us your name, the phone number or email address you used with us, the listing or request concerned, and what you would like us to do. If you withdraw consent, we will stop using your data for that purpose and delete it within a reasonable time, unless the law requires us to keep it. Withdrawal does not affect anything we did before it, and it may mean we cannot continue the related service, such as keeping your listing live.
When you make a request, please give accurate information and do not impersonate anyone.

TripUp is not meant for children to use on their own. Listings, requests and payments must be made by adults aged 18 or over.
